We are a ministry of reconciliation, committed to journeying with you —
to discover your identity in Christ,
build a deep relationship with God,
and find your place called ‘there‘.
Did you know that three times Daniel was called “greatly beloved” (Daniel 9:23, Daniel 10:11, Daniel 10:19)? He was in close communion with God (Daniel 9:3) and from that closeness was great revelations made known to him.
How much more we who are now in Christ, with the Holy Spirit indwelling in us and whom God has qualified to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light, are called into the fellowship of Jesus Christ, our Lord (1 Corinthians 1:9).
The shape of the cross is a reminder of the structure that forms the basis of the believer’s life.
The Vertical – Be with Him
The vertical element of the cross represents your relationship with God; the grounding in your identity in Christ’s reconciliation that makes you a new creation.
Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach (Mark 3:14)
Jesus appointed the twelve disciples and first called them to “be with him.“ Relationship with God is the foundation of everything.
Jesus defines disciples as those who abide in His word (John 8:31). To be disciples, we need to know Jesus through His word. Before God’s love in you can flow out through you, you must first know Him through His Word, through the Holy Spirit, and through a deep and growing intimacy.
The Horizontal – Be sent out
The horizontal beam of the cross represents your relationship and ministry to the world. The outflow of that reconciled life into the world around you is made possible by God’s love, poured into your heart through the Holy Spirit.
After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also and sent them out two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go … And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ (Luke 10:1,9)
From the place of being with Jesus, seventy others were appointed and sent out to teach, to heal and do great things in Jesus’ name. Ministry flows from identity and relationship, not from striving. Notice also that they are not sent out alone. You need a community and be connected with a body of believers.
A horizontal beam cannot float in mid-air since it has no height, no stability, and no support on its own. For a cross to be formed, It requires the vertical element to be deeply grounded before lifting the horizontal up in place.
In the same way, our horizontal relationship and ministry to the world has no real anchorage without a deeply rooted, vertical relationship with God. You must first be grounded and anchored vertically in God so that any horizontal extension into the world may be fruitful. You cannot give what you have not received; outflow starts from infilling.
This is the cornerstone of everything we do at Place called there.
Indeed, your identity in Christ is what will anchor you to your ministry and your place called there. When you build a relationship with the Great “I AM”, you become the overflow of who Christ is in you.
When you have an intimate relationship with God, you will get so pregnant with who He is that everything you give birth to, all the outflow of your ministry in your place called ‘there’ will look like Love.
Journey to ‘there’
Our approach follows a natural progression –
from first encountering God’s love, through discovering your identity, building your relationship with Him,
to finding and fulfilling your God-given calling and your place called ‘there.
the twelve
Our programme mirrors Jesus’ approach in calling the first twelve disciples – “that they might be with Him” (Mark 3:14). Like a beam of light breaking into a room, the Word of God illuminates who you are in Christ while you abide in Him.
These programmes focus on the love of God, the believer’s identity in Christ, baptism of the Holy Spirit, the believer’s authority and giving you that basis to ground your relationship with God. This flows from our vision for Place called there, found in Ephesians 4:12-13)
the seventy
Our programme follows Jesus’ blueprint in appointing the seventy disciples – sent them two by two to teach, to heal, and to declare the kingdom (Luke 10:1,9). From the place of being with Him, you are equipped and sent.
These programmes focus on discovering your ‘there’, and connecting like-minded believers in the body of Christ that causes growth. This flows from our mission for Place called there, found in Ephesians 4:15-16).
